‘Political polarisation worsened despair in youth’

OKARA: University of Okara Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad says that the current despair in our youth is the result of lack of guidance while political polarisation has further exacerbated it.

The youth need to be cautious of the anti-state propaganda by the enemies of Pakistan as part of fifth generation warfare, he said while addressing a seminar held at the university to mark the Pakistan Resolution Day on Thursday. He added that the Pakistan Resolution Day reminded the people of the importance of unity and perseverance in the face of adversity.

International Relations (IR) Department Coordinator Dr Fakhra Shahid emphasized the need for Pakistan to maintain good relations with the emerging economies in order to promote regional stability and prosperity. She also highlighted the role of international diplomacy in achieving these goals.

Department of Political Science Coordinator Prof Dr Usman Shamim stressed the need for the country to work towards economic and social development. He called for steps to improve education in addressing these challenges. The students also delivered speeches, highlighting the sacrifices made by the leaders of the Pakistan Movement. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Day’s main ceremony was held on the lawns of Deputy Commissioner’s Complex.

DC Dr Zeeshan Hanif, District Police Officer Mansoor Aman and District Emergency Officer Zafar Iqbal and heads of various departments were also present.

Earlier, the national flag hoisting ceremony was held.

A flower wreath was laid on the symbolic ‘Yadgar-i-Shuhada’. Special prayers were offered for the motherland and an awareness walk was held at the complex.
