KARACHI: Parts of the metropolis received light rain on Monday under the influence of a westerly wave affecting most parts of the country.

The areas where light rain was reported included University Road (0.2mm), Airport old area, Jinnah Terminal, Nazimabad, North Karachi, Keamari, Gulshan-i-Hadeed, SurjaniTown and Quaidabad.

Dr Sardar Sarfraz of the Met Office told Dawn that the city’s outskirts including Bahria Town, DHA-City, Taiser Town, etc, received light-to-moderate rain, while drizzle was reported from Clifton and other city areas. He said that today was last day of first spell of the rain.

According to an advisory issued by the Met Office, the weather is likely to be fair/partly cloudy on Tuesday (today) with maximum temperature ranging between 30-32 degrees Celsius.

The department has forecast partly cloudy/chances of thunderstorm-rain on Wednesday evening as another westerly wave is likely to approach south Balochistan on March 22. “Under its influence scattered dust-thunderstorm/rain of moderate to isolated heavy intensity is likely in most of the districts of the province during 22-23 March,” the advisory stated.
