TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 15: Alleged kidnapped union council-1 naib nazim Shafqat Mohsin returned home on Sunday. He later visited the Thikriwala (Faisalabad) police station (which registered the case of his kidnapping) and got his statement recorded. He said he did not know his captors and their motive who remained on the move and drove him to different districts. They did not torture him during captivity and released him on Sunday.

After his statement, police freed Chaudhary Ikraam Cheema, father of Gojra nazim Asad Zaman Cheema.

Talking to newsmen on Sunday, Asad Zaman Cheema claimed that police had unlawfully arrested his father as he was not on the FIR.

He alleged that former tehsil nazim Khalid Warraich and his elder brother, MNA Amjad Warraich, had used ruling party influence to win tehsil naib nazim seat.

Meanwhile, run-off election for tehsil naib nazim is scheduled for Jan 19 and almost every voter of rival Warraich and Cheema groups has been provided security (by their groups). As tension prevails in the area, DPO Akhtar Laleka has directed the Gojra ASP to depute maximum number of policemen around the TMA building on the polling day. — Correspondent
