FAISALABAD, Jan 15: Hundreds of religious activists took out a rally here on Sunday to protest against the US bombing of Bajaur Agency. Led by district MMA president Sardar Zafar Husain, they marched through Chiniot Bazaar and took a round of the Clock Tower.

Local MQM activists also staged a demonstration and chanted slogans against the government for “playing in US hands.”

GUJRANWALA: Local MNA activists organized a rally to condemn the US bombing in Waziristan. Speakers urged the government to withdraw support to the US in its so-called war on terrorism.

They also wanted Islamabad to solve all tribal matters through dialogue.

Local MQM activists also joined the MMA meeting.

OKARA: The MMA took out a protest rally in Okara as well.

Scores of workers, led by MMA district president Dr Liaquat Ali Kausar and Jamaat-i-Islami leader Sheikh Farooq, took out the rally from Gole Chowk and reached Venus Cinema Chowk after marching through Haq Bazaar and Rail Bazaar.

Holding placards, the protesters chanted slogans against the US.

SAHIWAL: On the appeal of the MMA president, the Jamaat-i-Islami protested in this part of the province as well.

Led by district amir Dr Ibrar Husain, the participants started the rally from JI’s Al-Huda office and reached Jinnah Chowk Bazaar after marching through Railway Road, Jinnah Street and Sadar Bazaar.

The rally was addressed by Dr Ibrar Husain, Iqbal Wajid advocate, Maulana Munawar Ali Khan and Maulana Muhammad Sharif Ghaffari.

They called upon the government to sever diplomatic relations with a so-called friendly country having no respect to the sovereignty of Pakistan.

Later, an emergent meeting of the JUI (F) was held under the chair of its district president Mufti Muhammad Usman in which the bombing by

US troops was strongly condemned.
