QUETTA: Security forces killed three terrorists in an operation south of Balochistan’s Awaran district, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces initiated an intelligence-based operation to intercept a militant group operating in a general area south of Awaran three days ago.

The militants, it said, were involved in firing incidents and blasts using improvised explosive devices along the Turbat-Awaran road and surrounding areas.

The ISPR said that based on credible information, multiple ambushes had been set up along different routes in the area frequented by the militants for the last three days.

As a result, a group of three terrorists was intercepted while moving towards their hideout. On being blocked, they opened fire on security officials.

“During the ensuing heavy exchange of fire, all three terrorists have been killed, while a cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered,” the ISPR said.

It said the army remained determined to thwart attempts to sabotage the peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.
