Electricity equipment seized

GUJRANWALA, Jan 14: Model Town police claimed on Saturday to have seized huge quantity of stolen transformers and other equipment of Gujranwala electric power company (Gepco) worth Rs5 million in a raid and arrested an accused factory owner. Reports said a transformer along with its trolley was stolen from outside the Wapda Model Town subdivision. The SDO lodged an FIR. A police party, led by an SHO, conducted a raid at an engineering factory on Gondlanwala Road and recovered stolen transformers, cable conductors, 300 three-phase meters and other equipment worth Rs5 million from its godown and arrested industrialist Malik Tariq.

Mr Tariq said as many as five other industrialists and an official of the company were involved in theft cases. Police were conducting raids at their residences.
