CHAGAI: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has brokered a peace deal between two rival tribes in the Chagai district, effectively bringing to an end their decade-old enmity.

The Sasoli and Mohammad Hasni tribes have been at odds with each other over a dispute over the ownership of land in the Charsar area of Chagai.

A jirga convened on Friday was attended by a large number of tribal elders, tribesmen and locals on Friday.

Sardar Changaiz Sasoli hosted the jirga which was also attended by the members of the Mohammad Hasni tribe and family members of the victims who lost their life in clashes over the years.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr Sanjrani paid rich tribute to both tribes and praised the courage of Sardar Sasoli and his tribe for forgiving their losses.

The Senate chairman termed the truce a historic moment and announced sending the victims’ family members on Haj and Umrah pilgrimage at his expense.

Mr Sanjrani urged both sides to respect the jirga’s decision and co-exist peacefully.

Sardar Sasoli, Sardarzada Ramen Mohammad Hasni, Sardar Asif Sher Jamaldini, Sardar Nadir Khan Badini, provincial minister Mir Abdul Ghafoor Lehri, MPA Haji Zabid Reki, former provincial minister Haji Ghulam Dastgir Badini, coordinator to Balochistan Chief Minister Ejaz Sanjrani and tribesmen also addressed the jirga.
