DERA GHAZI KHAN: On the call of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran Chairman Khwaja Muhammad Shafiq and South Punjab President Chaudhry Tariq Karim, a protest demonstration was held in south Punjab, including Dera Ghazi Khan, against inflation, increases in electricity and gas prices and imposition of new taxes.

A rally was held at the Committee Chowk, led by Sheikh Muhammad Naqeeb, Jan Alam Khan Laghari and Tariq Ismail Quraishi.

Mr Naqeeb said the recent inflation had made life difficult, that poor people were forced to commit suicide, and that the country was moving towards a bloody revolution.

Mr Leghari said the government that came to power with the slogan of ending inflation had broken the records of inflation and that the new taxes should be withdrawn immediately.
