NEW DELHI, Jan 14: US automobile component maker Delphi Said on Saturday it would invest five billion rupees ($130 million) to manufacture fuel injection systems in India.

The company, which has a partnership with India’s TVS, will also set up a technical centre for product development in the southern city of Chennai, the Press Trust of India reported.

The investment would be made over a span of four to five years, Delphi-TVS managing director T.K. Balaji was quoted as saying by the news agency.

Delphi-TVS currently makes 1,000 diesel pumps a day, the official said. The company has a turnover of Rs3.3 billion ($74 million), which it plans to increase almost four-fold by 2010.—AFP
