LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy commissioner Abdul Hadi distributed food packages among the poor families in Naurang town here on Saturday.

More than 600 families received the food packages at a ceremony held on the premises of the Government Shaheed Behram Ahmad Khan Higher Secondary School.

Naurang tehsil council chairman Azizullah Khan, neighbourhood council chairman Munawar Khan and the area elders were also present.

Instead of holding walima for guests and relatives in connection with the wedding of his nephews, the Naurang tehsil council chairman preferred to buy food packages from the money for the deserving families.

On the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the poor and destitute families needed attention of the well-off people, who he said should come forward to take care of their basic needs and essentialities.

He said that his administration was committed to resolving people’s problems at their doorstep.

“Under good governance policy of the government, the administration will distribute olive plants among the deprived sections of society so as to promote its cultivation, thus enabling the locals to generate incomes,” he maintained.
