Arif takes early lead

KARACHI, Jan 13: Arif Khan took an early lead on the opening day of the two-day trials to select 10 more golfers for the Pakistan Open Asian Tour at Arabian Sea Country Club on Friday.

Arif fired a round of two-under-par 70 to lead a pack of 36 golfers.

A stroke behind were nine other golfers. But it was a disappointing day for fancied Amjad Yousuf (76) and Javed Inayat (79).

Pakistan Golf Federation had already exempted 11 golfers and they are directly placed in the main rounds of US$200,000 championship at Karachi Golf Club on Jan 19-23.

Results: 70-Arif Khan, 71-Afzal Mohsin, Akhtar Ali, M Akram, M Javed, Nisar Khan, Shakeel Rehmati, Taimur Hasan, Taj Nabi, Waheed Baloch.—APP
