Magi stars in Azad Club’s victory

PESHAWAR, Jan 13: Two late goals by centre striker Magi Khan steered Azad Club, Bannu to victory over Shaheen Club, Tank in the All-Pakistan Khushhal Khan Khattak football tournament at Latamber on Friday.

The match started on a fast note with Shaheen Club grabbing an early lead in the 7th minute through Pervaiz Khan on a field attempt.

Azad Club was awarded a penalty kick in the dying moments of the first-half but Naimatullah failed to convert it, his powerful kick going wide from the upper bar.

Shaheen Club was leading by one goal to nil in the first-half.

After the resumption of second-half, Shaheen Club doubled the lead through right-winger Jan Gul, who travelled past two defenders and beat the onrushing goal-keeper to slam in a nice goal.

In the 56th minute Azad Club’s Aurangzeb reduced the margin on a field attempt. He headed in a perfect cross to make it 1-2 and forced Shaheen Club to play defensively.

His goal was followed by two quick-fire goals in the dying moments by Magi. He made it 3-2 and sealed the fate of the match.—APP
