KARACHI, Jan 13: The Edhi Foundation has expressed apprehensions that its countrywide welfare work could suffer on account of meagre donation of the sacrificial hides, as its annual budget depends on the collection of Zakat, Fitra and hides.

A statement issued by the Edhi head office on Friday said it appeared particularly in Karachi that the welfare work of the foundation had been totally ignored, as there were certain areas of the city from where not even a single hide had been collected this year.

According to the statement, under the patronage of the Edhi Foundation, 106 cows and 275 goats were sacrificed in Muzaffarabad, whereas sacrificial meat coming from Islamabad via Edhi ambulances was distributed in far-flung quake-hit areas.

The statement pointed out that Abdul Sattar Edhi, who had rushed to the affected areas following the Oct 8 quake was still supervising the relief work from Islamabad despite his illness.
