Two killed in road accidents

SAHIWAL, Jan 10: Two people were killed and three injured in two accidents on Tuesday. A pick-up knocked down two brothers who were riding a motorcycle near Chichawatni grid station. Naveed died on the spot while brother Imran suffered serious injuries. A speeding motorcycle skidded off the road near Sukh bridge on the river Bias as a result of which Ahmad Din was killed on the spot while his wife Surayya and daughter Shabana sustained injuries.

WIRE THEFT: Unidentified people stole electricity wire from the poles near Chak 97/9-L on Sahiwal-Pakpattan Road on Monday night.

It is learnt that a gang of wire thieves has been active in the area for quite some time. This is the 34th incident of wire theft in the district.

With the removal of wire, Chaks 97/9-L, 95/9-L, 93/9-L and adjoining areas plunged into complete darkness. Factories in the area also remained closed.

Yusafwala police have registered a case on the report of Wapda SDO.

CONSUMER COURTS: The Punjab government has decided to set up consumers protection courts in Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Sialkot districts on the orders of Lahore High Court chief justice.

It is learnt that funds for the establishment of courts and residences for the staff have also been issued. DCOs have been given orders in this regard.
