LARKANA: Sindh United Party president Syed Zain Shah has said that Pakistan Peoples Party is nothing without the support of establishment and if the powers that be withdraw their patronage and step up the process of transparent accountability the party will have no future.

Shah was speaking to participants in the Sukkur-Karachi march as it reached Larkana on its fourth day on Saturday. The march began its journey on foot from Sukkur on Feb 15 to register protest bad governance in Sindh, corruption, soaring prices of common commodities, unemployment and breakdown of law and order.

Leaders of different political parties, including former central convener of Movement for the Restoration of Democracy Hussain Bakhsh Narejo, who joined the march in Naudero, and Grand Democratic Alliance MPA Moazzim Ali Abbasi, welcomed the marchers and showered rose petals on them.

The party’s march against ‘bad governance, corruption’ reaches Larkana

Shah and other party leaders said in their brief speeches at different stopovers that PPP’s bad governance and corruption had pushed the country into blind alleys of poverty and skyrocketing inflation.

He slammed PPP and components of Pakistan Democratic Movement and said those who were leading marches in past against price hike had dropped bomb shells of inflation on hapless people when they came to power.

He said that PPP had a track-record of taking anti-Sindh steps and damaging the province’s interests. But now, people had got sick of the ruling party, he said.

Flanked by GDA MPA, Shah said: “We are on the roads and holding march only to raise voice against PPP’s mismanagement, bad governance, deteriorating law and order, bad economy, shattered infrastructure, rising poverty and unemployment etc.”

He said that only 500 plus bureaucrats and their partners in corruption had ruined lives of 220 million people of the country who were braving difficulties day in and day out. Corruption had destroyed education, agriculture and health sectors, he said.

He appealed to people to join his march to banish what he branded enemies of Sindh. It would be a good omen to hold election on time to keep the wheel moving, he added.

Shah expressed concern over post-flood situation and alleged that instead of making efforts to improve the lot of marooned people the rulers were out to siphon off funds they had amassed in their name.
