RAWALPINDI: The President has ordered that all those who had helped in uncovering the gun-running operations and the arsenal in the Iraqi Embassy should be amply rewarded. Further investigations have led to a strong belief in competent quarters that it was part of a deep-laid conspiracy against the security and tranquillity of Pakistan. But the Government of Pakistan will not release all the information, which led to the uncovering of the plot to smuggle arms into Pakistan by way of diplomatic pouch by the Iraqi Embassy for security reasons, it is reliably understood.

Reports in a section of the Pakistani and foreign Press suggesting that the arms in the Iraqi Embassy … could have been stored prior to distribution to the rebels in Iranian Baluchistan were considered in these quarters as ridiculous. They felt that logistically Islamabad was not a suitable place for supply of arms to Iranian Baluchistan.

But in some other quarters suggestions were thrown encouraging speculation that a certain political party was deeply involved in the conspiracy. Meanwhile, information received in Islamabad … said that Pakistan’s Ambassador in Iraq, Mr. Salimullah … is on his way to Pakistan.
