LAHORE, Jan 8: Indian coach Greg Chappell said on Sunday the forthcoming series against Pakistan is a battle between two teams and not of foreign coaches hired by them. “The job of coaches was to prepare the strategy and at the end it’s up to the captains and players to perform in the field,” Chappell told reporters.

Pakistan coach Woolmer and Chappell have contrasting ideas about coaching, with the former having more belief on the use of modern technology.

Admiring Woolmer’s coaching, Chappell said: “Under his (Bob) coaching the team appears to be well disciplined, improved and performing well, and the credit goes to him and captain Inzamamul Haq,”.

Asked about his target in the series starting from Jan 13, Chappell said he wanted positive cricket both in Test and ODIs and hopes his boys would be able to control the situation properly.

“We have a full series ahead and my target is that my boys control the hard situation in the field including weather problems, in a proper way,” he said.

“The Indian coach said both teams have promising bowlers and batsmen in their ranks adding that it seems to be a close series if his boys’ continues the form they have been displaying in the recent past.

He expressed his optimism that the series would be interesting as both the teams had won their last series at home.

Chappell said he was not rating Pakistan win against Ashes’ winners England at home very highly.

“Though Pakistan beat England which won the Ashes against world champion Australia but it will be a different series,” Chappell said.

He said speedster Shoaib Akhtar was in a good form and Pakistan he would not under estimate the other pace attack of Pakistan.
