KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the Sindh government in partnership with Indus Hospital is establishing a 1,350-bed hospital over an area of 20 acres in Korangi.

“Our partnership for the people in need of medical care is based on humanitarian cause, which is totally above any kind of discrimination,” he said while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Indus Hospital Blood Transfusion Service Centre in a new building in Korangi.

Local Government Nasir Shah, founding president of Indus Hospital Prof Dr Abdul Bari, Siraj Dadabhoy, Farhan Hanif, and others attended the ceremony.

Mr Shah said that the new Indus hospital in partnership with the Sindh government was being established with a cost of Rs24 billion, in which his government would pay 50 per cent.

“We have already paid our half of the amount and if the project is completed within three years, I would pay the remaining amount,” he said.

At this Dr Bari assured the chief minister that it would be completed latest by 2026.

Mr Shah said that he was proud to announce that the hospital would provide free-of-cost treatment with latest technologies for the convenience of the poor arriving from nook and corner of the province and the country.

The chief minister added that his government was working with Indus Hospital in Badin where they were running the District Headquarters Hospital successfully.

“The hospital is so fabulous that people from the entire belt go there for treatment,” he said and urged Dr Bari to take over a few more hospitals in other districts and make them state-of-the-art facilities for the poor of the areas.

Earlier, the CM inaugurated the Blood Transfusion Services Unit and visited its different departments and facilities and watched functioning of the latest machines installed there.
