KARACHI: A constable was among four persons who were shot dead in different city areas on Sunday, police said.

They said Tahir Bangash, 26, (posted at the SSP Keamari office) was shot and killed by another constable, Hammad (posted at the Malir Courts).

City SSP Shabir Ahmed Sethar said the victim and suspect were friends. Along with their common friend, Ismail, they were sitting at Agra Taj Colony when a scuffle broke out. Hammad opened fire on Tahir after an exchange of hot words and himself took his injured friend to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where he died.

After his death, Hammad fled. The police have detained one more suspect for interrogation.

In another incident in Lyari, a man, identified as Sarfraz Noor, 25, was killed by two unknown armed gangsters near Hindu Para at a snooker club, according to Chakiwara police.

In Rehri Goth, Asad Ali, 42, was shot dead at Bhittai Mohalla, according to police.

Sharafi Goth SHO Ayub Odho said the police had arrested the suspect, identified as Shabir who was a relative of Asad, belonging to Hazara.

About the possible motive, he suspected that the victim and alleged killer wanted to marry a same girl.

In Moachko, a man named as Rehman Nasir, 28, was shot and killed at Yar Mohammed Goth over personal enmity, said police.
