PESHAWAR: Peshawar division commissioner Riaz Mehsud has requested Governor Ghulam Ali and caretaker Chief Minister Mohammad Azam Khan to hold Kashmir Day events indoors due to security reasons.

“In the wake of the current law and order situation, the Peshawar deputy commissioner has imposed the Section 144, banning gatherings, rallies/protests etc in the district. In view of the ban, you are requested to hold Kashmir Day rallies on Sunday (today) inside closed premises in order to avoid any untoward incident,” reads a letter issued from the office of the commissioner on Saturday.

Earlier, the district administration banned gathering of five or more persons within the limits of the district for 10 days in view of the terror threat.

According to a notification, anyone found violating the order shall be proceeded against under section 188 of PPC.
