BAHAWALPUR: A rare pedigree chart of prophets has been added to the treasure of holy relics, manuscripts and antiques at the Bahawalpur Museum.

Nadia Naureen, the public relations officer of the museum, said the pedigree chart from the period of Hazrat Adam to Islamic caliphs was presented to Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, also the chairman of the board of governors (BoG) of the museum, at the Museum Hall. Museum Director Zubair Rabbani and BoG members, IUB academics were also present.

Presenting the chart, Syed Sharafat Hussain of the Hashwani Group, the donor, claimed that the said pedigree chart was acquired from Egypt. He added the objective of donating it to the museum was to ensure its proper preservation as well as provision of an opportunity to the general public to see it.

Accepting the gift, the commissioner along with Islamia University Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Athar Mehboob, ex-parliamentarian Syed Tabish Alwari and others thanked the donor.

The commissioner said work was in progress on the preparation of a master plan for the museum for promotion of art and culture for which the support of the BoG and IUB VC would be sought.

FIRS: The police stations across the Bahawalpur region registered 588 cases under the Punjab Government’s policy of ‘free registration of FIRs’.

This was claimed by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rai Saeed Babar.

According to a press release, Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar had recently issued directions for free registration of the FIRs across the province with a view to redress the grievances of the complainants against non-registration of their FIRs.

The press release said the registered FIRs included 381of thefts, 56 of burglary and 152 of motorcycle thefts.

The release claimed the FIRs of the complaints made even about three months back had also been registered.
