PESHAWAR: Hayatabad Medical Complex has launched screening of cervical cancer to reduce incidence of the ailment among women.

“Abnormal bleeding, vaginal discharge, general fatigue and lower back pain or leg cramps can be symptoms of cervical cancer,” experts told a one-day symposium held in connection with World Cancer Day. They said that women should visit the gynaecology OPD of the hospital to undergo free screening, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.

Former chairperson of HMC’s gynaecology department Dr Lubna Hassan attended the event as a chief guest. Chairperson of gynaecology department Dr Shamshad Begum, Dr Bushra Rauf, Dr Sadia Shamsher and others also attended the symposium.

Dr Lubna said that gynaecologists could help to reduce the ratio of cervical cancer by creating awareness as well as examining the women, who came to hospital on regular basis.
