NORTH WAZIRISTAN: A policeman was martyred in an armed attack in Miramshah tehsil of the North Waziristan tribal district on Tuesday night.

Police officials said that the incident took place when the cop was on his way to his place of work.

Tariq Khan Dawar, a spokesperson of the district police, told Dawn that constable Khurshid Ahmed was headed to Miramshah when he came under attack in Ghundi Kallay locality of Tapi area.

He said that attackers managed to escape from the scene after attacking the cop.

The funeral prayers of the martyred policeman were offered at the Governor Cottage in Miramshah.

North Waziristan district police officer Saleem Riaz and other officials attended the funeral. The slain cop was later laid to rest in his native Ghundi Kallay village.
