LAHORE: Former chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Monday called on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman at his residence on Monday and discussed political situation as well as future course of action.

At a maiden meeting after the dissolution of Punjab Assembly, both the leaders expressed their concerns over the [Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa] governors not giving date of the election.

The PTI chief said the constitution bound the supervisory set-up, governors and the election commission to hold elections in 90 days. Whoever will violate the constitution, he said the violators would invite applying of Article 6 against them. He said the rulers were evading elections but the PTI would not let them escape.

Mr Elahi said the federal ministers and the figures of the caretaker set-up were giving signs of unconstitutional declaration.

He said delaying elections would be tantamount to violating the constitution. He regretted that people were being battered due to the incompetence of rulers.

He said the rulers took relief in their cases but they were not giving any relief to people. He said ‘inflation bombs’ were being dropped on the people everyday and added that the increase in prices of petroleum products was cruel.

PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and jurist Salman Akram Raja were also present in the meeting.

PTI LAHORE: PTI Chairman Imran Khan directed party’s Lahore district leadership to speed up door-to-door campaign.

He also directed to complete arrangements in the camps outside his residence for the facilitation of party workers camping round-the-clock.

The Lahore district leadership earlier explained party’s door-to-door campaign as well as camps outside chairman’s Zaman Park residence.

The meeting also discussed political situation as well as public reaction after increase in petrol prices.

JOINING: PML-N minority wing vice-president and All Pakistan Pastor Alliance chairman Dr Qaiser Shahzad on Monday called on PTI secretary-general Asad Umer and central Punjab president Dr Yasmin Rashid at Jail Road party office and announced joining the PTI along with his companions.

PROTEST: The PTI workers on Monday staged a protest demonstration at GPO Chowk and chanted slogans against the arrest of party leader Fawad Chaudhry.

A large number of party workers including lawyers and civil society members protested and chanted slogans against the PDM and the caretaker Punjab government. They were carrying posters of Fawad Chaudhry’s pictures.
