Amirreza, Roberts shine in Allama Iqbal Polo

LAHORE: Platinum Homes/Master Paints and Diamond Paints won their respective matches in the Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Friday.

Iranian player Amir­reza Behboudi scored four goals to help Platinum Homes/Master Paints narrowly edge FG/Din Polo 5-4 in the day’s first match with Agha Musa Ali Khan slotting in one.

For FG/Din Polo, Shamyl Alam registered a brace while Saqib Khan Khakwani and Sheikh Muhammad Raffay added a goal apiece.

It were FG/Din Polo who lead 2-0 in the first chukker before Platinum Homes/Master Paints leveled the affair but conceded another as the score read 3-2 by the end of the second.

In the third chukker, Platinum Homes/Master Paints scored twice to take a 4-3 lead before both sides added one each in the last.

In the second match of the day, Nico Roberts scored five goals to give Diamond Paints an impressive 11-8½ victory over Master Paints/Newage Cables. Omer Minhas recorded a hat-trick while Mir Shoaib Ahmed added a brace Bilal Hayat Noon struck once.

For Master Paints/Newage Cables, who had a handicap advantage of half a goal, Raja Temur Nadeem scored six goals while Farooq Amin Sufi converted two goals.
