DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman inaugurated two electricity feeders at the Gomal University grid station here the other day.

Pesco executive engineer (city) Hizbullah Mehsud and executive engineer (rural) Rizwanullah Marwat told Mr Rehman that the Rs40.5 million Qureshi Mor and Qayyum Nagar feeders would reduce complaints of power breakdowns and low voltage in Anjumabad, Muriali, Noon, Nawab and Bhakar Road areas.

They said overloading at the University and City grid stations was very high causing frequent tripping of many feeders.

The JUI-F leader said the two power feeders would eliminate unnecessary power cuts in the area besides addressing the issue of overloading.

He alleged that the last PTI government didn’t carry out major development projects during its four-year tenure.

“Though the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project promises national development, the PTI [government] stopped work on it,” he said.

Mr Rehman said suspension of work on the CPEC badly hit development plans for Dera Ismail Khan as well.

He said the federal government would develop Dera Ismail Khan into an economic zone and was reviving projects backburnered by its predecessor.

The JUI-F leader blamed the current economic crisis on “bad governance” of the PTI government. He said the people shouldn’t vote for those blocking the country’s development.
