KOHAT: The 16th martyrdom anniversary of former capital city police officer, Peshawar, Malik Saad was observed here on Friday.

DIG Kohat division Dar Ali Khattak, district police officer Abdur Rauf Qaisrani, office-bearers of Malik Saad Shaheed Sports Trust and others attended a ceremony held in this connection. They offered Fateha for the departed soul.

On the occasion, DIG Khattak said the provincial police won’t hesitate in making every sort of sacrifice for protecting the lives and property of people.

Malik Saad embraced martyrdom when a suicide bomber struck the 7th Muharram procession in Peshawar in 2007.

The participants laid floral wreaths at the grave of the martyred police officer.

His son, Malik Salim was also present on the occasion.

POLICE POST: Owners of units in the small industrial estate here have welcomed the establishment of a police checkpost.

They were speaking at a meeting with the police official here on Friday.

The investors said security risk kept the investors away from investing in the industrial estate, which had remained abandoned for 30 years.

Deputy Director of Small Industrial Development Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tahir Khattak, DSP Saadat Khan, in charge of mills checkpost Rauf Khan, founding president of Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rasheed Paracha, and others were present on the occasion.

ARREST: The Kohat city police have arrested the alleged killer of a woman over a property dispute from Sangerh area.

A statement issued on Friday said the accused was arrested two hours after he committed the murder.

SHO city Sohail Shah said they received a report about the murder of a woman, after which they launched a search for the killer. He said the accused was found hiding in a house adjacent to the house where the murder took place. He was identified as a close relative of the victim.
