KARACHI, Jan 7: Sindh Ombudsman Yousuf Jamal has taken suo-moto notice of fraudulent transfer of agricultural land being made in certain parts of the provinces.

The transfers have been made with the sole purpose of making illegal money, particularly in those areas where pieces of land are likely to be acquired in foreseeable future by the government for construction of government buildings, police lines, schools, etc., in areas where new districts have been set up, Provincial Ombudsman stated here on Saturday.

A Mukhtiarkar in Tando Mohammad Khan had, in connivance with his subordinate staff, deprived poor widows of the ownership of their inherited agricultural land through fraudulent transfer of ownership of the land on which their very livelihood was dependent.

The Ombudsman has directed Senior Member, Board of revenue, DCO Tando Mohammad Khan and DCO Sanghar to appear before him in person on Jan 17 to explain the position after obtaining site inspection reports from the concerned officials and duly examining the record.

They have been directed to bring along with them the relevant revenue record.—APP
