ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Water and Power Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi on Friday said that there would be no injustice in distribution of water among the provinces.

This he said while presiding over a meeting which was informed that sufficient water was available for Rabi crops.

Mr Jatoi said the federal government had fulfilled its commitment and provided the provinces with their share of water for Rabi.

The Indus River System Authority chairman apprised the participants of the strategy being followed for rehabilitation of the Taunsa Barrage.

Representatives of Sindh and Punjab expressed satisfaction for the diversion plan being practised to meet the requirements of Sindh and Balochistan.

The meeting discussed the telemetry system and the Water and Power Development Authority’s member (water) said that Wapda and Siemens were working for calibration of the remaining sites. The minister directed Wapda to provide the data system to Irsa.

Wapda officials assured that they would step up their efforts to make the telemetry system fully operational soon.

IRSA members from the NWFP and Sindh stressed the need for proper functioning of the system.
