DERA GHAZI KHAN: Fort Monro, the colonial-era hill station perched on the peaks of the Sulaiman Range in the west of the district, some 85km from here, received the first snowfall of the season on Friday.

Given the rare weather phenomena in the area, the district administration has invited tourists through social media to enjoy the snowfall and issued directive to the authorities concerned to take appropriate measures regarding provision of facilities to the visitors.

It is being expected the snowfall may get heavier in the next couple of days.

All private hotels, restaurants and government-owned rest houses have also been directed to make arrangements to handle the expected rush of visitors to the hill station.

Meanwhile, the Border Military Police (BMP) has been directed to restrict tourists’ entry after filling of the parking lots and residential capacity of the hill station to avoid any untoward incident during the extreme cold weather.
