KARACHI: Cold winds gripped the city on Thursday evening as the westerly wave persisting over Balochistan extended towards lower Sindh.

The minimum temperature recorded on Thursday morning was nine degrees Celsius.

“What we are experiencing in the city is just the extension of the westerly wave that has brought rain and snowfall in Balochistan,” chief meteorologist Dr S. Sarfaraz said, adding that the system brought light rain to upper Sindh, including the areas of Larkana, Sukkur and Jacobabad.

According to the meteorologist, the city’s weather would normalise on Friday as the system would move towards Punjab.

“But, this normality would be for a short period as the city’s temperature would again drop to a single digit from 21st as dry continental winds would take over the region.”

The minimum temperature is likely to range between 10-12 degrees Celsius on Friday, he added.
