Published January 6, 2006

LAHORE, Jan 5: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi says committees have been formed for accelerating the pace of PML reorganization and membership in Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha and Bahawalpur regions. He was chairing a meeting of Punjab office-bearers at the Muslim League House here on Thursday.

He said Law Minister Basharat Raja would head the committee for Faisalabad and Rawalpindi, transport minister Rana Shamshad for Gujranwala, Senator Kamil Ali Agha for Lahore, agriculture minister Arshad Lodhi for Multan, agriculture marketing minister Rana Qasim Noon for Dera Ghazi Khan, colonies minister Gul Hameed Khan Rokhri for Sargodha and Baitul minister Ejaz Shafi for Bahawalpur.

The chief minister said these committees would propagate the PML manifesto, inform the people of the government’s performance and remove dissent in the party at local level.

He said all wings of the party were being strengthened and the related reports being evaluated. It had been decided to declare every MPA’s constituency an organizational unit.

Preparation of a genuine PML membership list would be ensured and those showing false memberships would be sternly dealt with, the chief minister said.

He said the reform process in all government departments was continuing.

Meanwhile, speaking at the PML meeting, the chief minister asked the office-bearers to expedite the party membership campaign.
