SWABI: A man allegedly killed his mother-in-law after she refused to let her daughter go with him here on Sunday, police and Rescue 1122 officials said.

Kalu Khan police officials said Aizaz Khan, a son of the deceased woman, told them that his sister had come to her parents’ house after a quarrel with her husband, Ibrahim, a resident of Turlandi village of Razaar tehsil, over an unknown issue.

He claimed Ibrahim had divorced his wife on mobile phone after arguing with her.

The complainant said Ibrahim wanted to take his wife back to his home, but her mother refused, arguing they were divorced.

He said Ibrahim opened fire on his mother with a pistol after an argument, killing her on the spot.

The police registered an FIR and started investigation.

Meanwhile, unidentified assailants on Sunday shot dead a man in Zaida area, rescue officials said.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Wahid, 43. He was on way home on a motorcycle when he was targeted.

Both the cause of the incident and identity of the attackers could not be known.

Also in the day, body of a man, identified as Gul Samar, was found in Shahidan mountainous area of Topi city on Sunday.

Qadeemullah, father of the deceased, told the police he was informed by the locals about the body of his son lying in the area.

He alleged Azizur Rehman of Topi city was involved in killing of his son over a rivalry.

Separately, the police arrested three persons for firing in the air during a wedding ceremony.

SHO Swabi city Altaf Khan said after hearing the gunshots at a wedding party in Qaziabad area, he along a contingent went there and found three people firing in the air.

He said the police arrested the men identified as Ejaz Amin, Hasan Zeb and Imran Khan, and seized the weapons from them. He said a case was registered against them.
