RAHIM YAR KHAN: A suspect in murder case of two minors was allegedly killed in custody of Saddar police on Thursday night.

Police claim that he committed suicide.

Two minors had drowned in Sadiq Branch Canal and police recovered their bodies after a call on 15. Police launched an investigation and arrested Muhammad Khalid Kamboh, Ilyas and the deceased children’s aunt Aysha for interrogation.

According to police, Khalid, Ilyas and Aysha had thrown the minors into the canal because Khalid has a grudge against their mother on the issue of his relations with her sister Aysha.

Police registered a first information report (FIR) but did not bring the arrests of the suspects into record.

On the other hand, police spokesperson Saif Ali Wains said Khalid had allegedly killed himself in a suicide attempt in the washroom of the lock-up. He claimed that Khalid hanged himself with the belt of his trousers because he was under stress after killing two minors.

District Police Officer Akhtar Farooq also visited the crime scene and suspended the Saddar Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Younus and Muharar Muhammad Irman for negligence.

The DPO launched action against the police officers.

Khalid’s body was shifted to the Shaikh Zayed Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem.
