UMERKOT: The additional district and sessions court on Thursday acquitted seven suspects identified as Moloo, Prem, Bhamro, Ashok, Morro, Jagdesh and Kamlesh.

One Ramoo had registered a case against them at Umerkot police station accusing them of killing his father Chandno and uncle Rugho Bajeer on Dec 14, 2020, during a dispute over a piece of plot.

In a case of assault, the court sentenced an accused to 12 years and imposed on him fine of Rs50,000 after the prosecution proved the charge that he had attempted to sexually assault an eight-year-old girl and tried to kill her when she resisted.

The accused afterwards threw her at a desolated place in unconscious state.

It was a blind case which was solved by a quick-witted investigation officer who finally tracked down the accused with the help of his shirt’s button found at the crime scene.

The court also sentenced a teacher to 14 years imprisonment and fined him Rs1 million for sexually assaulting his student two years ago.
