PESHAWAR, Jan 4: Additional District and Session Judge Wajehuz Zaman on Wednesday awarded life term to accused, Iqbal, a resident of Mathra for murdering one Hidayatullah in the jurisdiction of Kabuli police station. The court after hearing detailed arguments of the defence counsel and prosecution, announced its judgment. The convict had gunned down Hidayatullah over petty dispute on Dec 25, 2004.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Session Judge Abdur Rauf Khan awarded three years rigorous imprisonment besides a fine of Rs10,000 to a drug smuggler Salim Abbas, after the defence counsel failed to prove his case.

In case of default, the convict would further undergo six months imprisonment. The Gulbahar police had arrested accused Salim Abbas on Feb 18, 2005 and recovered one kilogram heroin from his possession.—APP
