PESHAWAR: Four terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Bannu on Saturday, a military statement said.

During the intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Mohammad Wasim, 25, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom, said the statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). He was a resident of Khairpur, Sindh.

According to the ISPR, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in general area Jani Khel of Bannu district.

During the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorists after the latter opened fire. In the ensuing fight, four terrorists were gunned down while weapons with ammunition was seized from them.

The ISPR said the terrorists remained actively involved in killing innocent citizens and carried out activities against security forces. Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists, it added.

Just 10 days ago, 25 terrorists were shot dead, three were arrested and seven surrendered during an operation by security forces at a Counter Terrorism Department compound in Bannu, according to ISPR DG Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif.
