SHOCKING RESULT: As per the recent announcement of the Central Superior Services (CSS) written examination 2022, 32,059 candidates applied, while 20,262 appeared, and only 393 passed; the passing ratio being 1.94 per cent. It was surely one of the worst pass ratios ever for the competitive examination. This is shocking. Most candidates even struggled with Pakistan Affairs. The Federal Public Service Commission needs to show some flexibility rather than playing with the future of the aspirants.

SNAIL’S PACE: The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) conducted the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2020 in November 2020, and CCE 2021 in February 2022, but the results of both examinations are yet to be announced. Besides Karachi and Hyderabad, being mega cities of Sindh, there are precious few job opportunities in the rest of the province, making it imperative for SPSC and such other entities to announce the results at the earliest. The public sector is the only platform with some job openings for a large segment of youths across Sindh.

POLICING FAILURE: Recently, my brother was intercepted by muggers who took away all the valuables that he had at the time. Following the incident, he rushed to the nearby police station and had a complaint registered. To know the progress on the case, he visited the police station after a week where he was greeted with frustration as police appeared tight-lipped, unable to provide a single piece of information regarding his case. This was an expression of sheer incompetence. With such mechanisms in place, the crime rate will never see a dip.

RISING DIVORCES: In the first seven months of this year, courts across Pakistan approved more than 6,000 divorces, whereas 7,000 cases were still pending. The rising trend in the country portrays a gloomy picture of society. The issue must be addressed on a broader scale.
