LAHORE: Just a couple of days after getting involved in an altercation with Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi at a cabinet meeting, the provincial minister for livestock and dairy development Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak on Saturday tendered his resignation to quit the cabinet.

Mr Dreshak, as a member of the cabinet, had attempted to speak at the meeting held two days ago, when CM Elahi snubbed him, reminding him to take permission before expressing views and to show some discipline. However, when the minister did not stop, CM Elahi asserted that only one minister could speak at a time.

The chief minister again attempted to silence him, which infuriated Mr Dreshak who then threatened to resign. In a prompt response, CM Elahi said: “Who has stopped you from resigning?”

Mr Dreshak then stopped talking and walked out of the meeting in protest.

He later submitted his resignation to the chief minister and confirmed to the media that he sent his resignation to the CM.
