TORONTO, Jan 30: Pakistan International Airlines has revived its two-piece baggage rule on Pakistan-Canada sector, airline sources told Dawn on Wednesday.

PIA travel agents across Canada have welcomed the decision and said it will greatly help all Toronto-bound passengers.

PIA in its earlier announcement had said that the two-piece baggage concept has been withdrawn and no excess baggage will be accepted on its Toronto-bound flights from Jan 29.

A circular dated January 24 issued by PIA to all its agents in Canada had said: “The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan has imposed restriction on carriage of baggage on Toronto-bound flights due to payload restriction in view of the present airspace/security constraints. The 2-pc baggage concept has been withdrawn. Therefore, effective January 29 to March 31, 2002, carriage of checked baggage on all Pakistan-Toronto flights will be restricted on weight basis as follows: Economy Class 30kg, Business Class 40kg.”
