ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday appointed Akif Saeed as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) replacing Amir Khan.

Mr Khan was appointed commissioner and the chairman of SECP for another three-year term on Dec 6, 2021.

Mr Saeed was appointed commissioner in SECP on Dec 13 along with Abdul Rehman Waraich and Mujtaba Lodhi.

With the appointment of three new commissioners, the portfolios have also been re-designated among the five commissioners of the SECP.

Earlier on Friday, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with the SECP management at Finance Division.

The minister appreciated SECP’s work as a0untry by taking many regulatory measures in restoring and maintaining the confidence of domestic as well as foreign investors.—
