CHAGAI: Traffic on the RCD highway was suspended for several hours at Nokundi due to a protest by the family members, relatives and friends of a man who died in a road accident along with his daughter three days ago.

The deceased, Taj Muhammad Sanjrani, was the district health communication support officer.

The protesters, who blocked the road by putting stones and burning tyres, expressed concern over rising road accidents and demanded the district administration take steps to overcome the issue.

Jalil Kashani, Kazim Mengal and others spoke on the occasion and attributed the rise in accidents to rash driving and overloaded pickups.

The road was later opened for traffic after Additional Deputy Commissioner Ali Raza Khosa assured the protesters that their demands would be met.
