BAJAUR: As many as 35 sheep and goats of a local farmer were killed when wild animals attacked them in a mountain in Barang tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, residents said on Thursday.

They said that the incident occurred at the Kohimore Mountain on Wednesday night.

Talking to this correspondent, the villagers said that about 35 goats and sheep of a local farmer, Muqaddam Khan, were killed in the attack by wild animals coming from the nearby forest.

They said that there were marks of claws and teeth of animals on bodies of the dead livestock.

“We don’t know exactly which wild animals have attacked our herd of sheep and goats, but that could be hyenas and jackals which have presence in the mountains,” said Ihsan Khan, a resident of Kohimore area, located 40km from Khar.

The affected shepherd Muqaddam Khan, 60, told this scribe by phone that he and his family members were sleeping when wild animals attacked the livestock at a farm adjacent to his home.

“We didn’t hear any sound of the livestock. We came to know about it in the morning,” he said.
