LAHORE, Jan 2: Some 2,200 policemen will be deployed during forthcoming Indo-Pak cricket matches in the provincial capital for ensuring security of players.

The decision was taken during a meeting held here on Monday to finalize security arrangements for the cricket series. The meeting was chaired by Lahore SSP (Operations) Amir Zulfikar Khan and attended by senior police officials.

The meeting was told a police control room under an ASP would be set up in the Qaddafi stadium. Besides, plainclothesmen will be deployed inside the stadium during the matches. Close circuit cameras are also being installed in different enclosures in the stadium.

Moreover, some 500 policemen, including 150 plainclothesmen, will be deployed in the hotel where the Indian team is being put up. Similarly, stringent security arrangements will be undertaken during the three-day warm-up match at Bagh-i-Jinnah.

Arrangements are also being made for ensuring smooth flow of traffic in the city during the matches.
