PM all praise for provincial govt

LAHORE, Jan 1: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday paid a short visit to Lahore during which he also met with Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi at his residence. The prime minister was received at the airport by Governor Khalid Maqbool and Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.

Later, he went to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology and Jinnah Hospital to inquire after IB Director-General Brig Ejaz Shah (retired) and journalist Zia Shahid.

During his brief meeting with the chief minister, the prime minister discussed with him development, besides national and political issues.

Talking to journalists afterwards, the prime minister said the provincial government was striving to improve health, education and other sectors, and it had achieved great success in social sector.

He said during his meeting with the chief minister, he discussed the issue of evolving consensus on the construction of big water reservoirs in the country.

Agriculture held an important place in the national economy, and it had become necessary to build big water reservoirs for the sector. “We are trying to remove reservations of political parties with regard to the construction of dams,” the prime minister said.

Later, he left Lahore for Karachi. He was seen off by the chief minister at the airport.
