Rain, hail add to chill

LAHORE, Jan 1: Lahore like the plains of Punjab received its first winter rain on Sunday. The rain coupled with hail added to the chill. According to the meteorological office, it also rained in the NWFP and the northern areas with snow falling over the hills. The rain and snow falling were generated by a strong westerly system which would persist during the next 24 hours, the Met office said.

It expected scattered thunderstorm and rain in the province during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature in Lahore was 15.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum 5.8 degrees C with 65 per cent humidity in the morning and 76 per cent in the afternoon.
