Transport network being improved

FAISALABAD, Jan 1: Punjab Communications and Works Minister Zaheeruddin Khan has said that development works are being carried out in both rural and urban areas of the district to provide better transportation facilities to the people. Talking to the press here on Sunday, he said the provincial government had allocated millions of rupees for the uplift and beautification of the Faisalabad city and its adjoining rural areas.

He said a study was being conducted to construct underpaths and overhead bridges on major city roads to resolve problems of pedestrians.

The minister said all busy intersections were being re-designed under the beautification plan of the government. Maximum attention was being paid to the conservation of historical buildings and monuments of the city.

He said the chief minister had already issued instructions to all respective departments to accelerate the pace of their projects and complete them within the stipulated period.

He said work on dual-carriageway from Faisalabad to Jaranwala and its uplink with the Bucheki, Morr Khunda, Bhai Phero and towards Lahore would start soon.

The minister said pace of work on cardiac centre in Faisalabad had also been accelerated and the government officials were supervising the quality of material on daily basis.

He said PML workers had been asked to serve the people of their respective areas and strengthen the party at grassroots level.
