LONDON: Arab demonstrators today [Dec 4] attacked European buildings in Alexandria, Cairo and Baghdad … on the fifth day of Arab agitation against the United Nations decision to partition Palestine. In Cairo, student demonstrators who tried to mob the American University, dispersed when police opened fire… . Abdul Rehman Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League, told a crowd of 7,000 students: “… We prefer death to Zionist subjugation.”

…A number of students, injured during the Cairo rioting … wrote a petition in their blood to King Farouk asking that Arab countries withdraw from the United Nations. Reuter’s Jerusalem correspondent reported that in more than three days of “war” between Palestine Jews and Arabs, 20 Jews and 15 Arabs have been killed.

[Meanwhile, as reported from Peshawar,] About 2,000 Jews who were doing business in Peshawar have been gradually leaving the town ever since the Palestine trouble started. This tendency to leave the province has been accelerated by the decision of the UNO to partition Palestine. Most of the Jews left Peshawar yesterday [Dec 3] for Karachi and others are preparing to leave shortly. — News agencies
