KARACHI: Farah Khan, a close aide of PTI chief Imran Khan’s wife, has sent a Rs5 billion legal notice to Dubai-based businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor, Geo News and anchorperson Shahzeb Khanzada for airing claims about her alleged involvement in the sale of Toshakhana gifts, Dawn.com reported on Tuesday.
Zahoor had appeared on Shahzeb Khanzada’s show in November and claimed that an expensive Graff wristwatch — gifted to Mr Khan by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman — for $2 million.
The Election Commission of Pakistan had disqualified the PTI chief for making “false statements and incorrect declaration” regarding the sale of Toshakhana gifts.
Farah Khan’s legal notice, dated Nov 26, says Zahoor had “deliberately uttered various defamatory remarks” against her and “falsely told” the anchor that Akbar introduced him to Farah who then met him to sell a watch, causing her “sizeable reputational damage.
The notice demanded that all the respondents tender an unconditional apology, publish a contradiction and pay Rs5bn as compensation to Farah Khan, failing which legal action would be initiated.
