KARACHI, Jan 30: The Russian investors have evinced keen interest in making investment in Karachi.

A delegation of visiting investors from Russia called on City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, on Wednesday who informed them that Karachi had vast potential for foreign investors.

He said that major demand of this city is supply of water and in order to solve this problem, there is a need for construction of small dams in various parts of the city which may serve as water reservoirs.

He informed that in the past, the circular railway used to meet the transport needs of this city’s one third population and this system needs to be revived with the operation of mono-electrical rail or sky train.

The Nazim suggested that investment can also be made here in CNG-based large size buses.

He told the delegation that Karachi is located on a long coast where a number of beaches can be developed and modernised besides construction of five-star hotels.

The City Nazim informed that some six to eight thousand tons of garbage is generated for the disposal for which the city had no coordinated system.

Naimatullah stressed on the holding of a mega-exhibition in Karachi and Moscow to promote the products of two the countries and to identify new outlets for their marketing.

The delegation showed their interest in the import of rice, textile products, surgical equipments, marble and granite and export of highway machinery, cement and infrastructure related machinery to Pakistan.
